A homeless man riding his motorized wheelchair was hit by a motorist and has died. The man was later identified as 59-year-old Raymond Nielson who was hit by the sedan style car around 6:20 pm Wednesday night as he was pushing a small cart with his belongings. The driver who has yet to be charged with any thing initially drover away, after about an a hour returned to see what had occurred and then came forward and said he thinks he may have hit Mr. Nielson. It appears that Mr. Nielson was coming from visiting a relative that lived in the area. Nielson was in the center lane of traffic when he was tragically struck, it has yet to be confirmed weather Nielson was crossing the street or moving with traffic. The location where he was struck was not near a crosswalk.
The 1Law family would like to extend our deepest thoughts to the family of Raymond Nielson this is a tragic event and hope people look out for pedestrians on the road. We would also like to encourage anyone sharing the road with a car to make sure they are using a crosswalk and sidewalks when out on the streets.
