An Oregon teen has found himself in a county jail behind bars after a Facebook post. The Teen who is now in police custody after posting “Drivin drunk… classic but whoever’s vehicle I hit I am sorry. :p” that post eventually lead authorities’ to arresting the teen at the home of Jacob Cox-Brown in the city of Astoria. Cox-Brown can thank two of his friends for reporting his Facebook post to authorities who had already been contacted about a hit-and-run, which helped the officers connect the two pieces of evidences and which led them to the house of the teenager who was arrested the next morning. They arrested the young man, charging him with two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver. (Nearly nine hours had elapsed between the report and the confrontation, and the driver was no longer in his car, which is why there was no driving-while-intoxicated charge.) He was held in the Clatsop County Jail and released on his own recognizance, and is scheduled to appear in Astoria Municipal Court on January 23. Like many other police departments the Astoria Police PD keeps a watchful eye on many social media sites to see what people are posting.
1Law would like to urge everyone not to drink and drive, it is a serious matter that should not be taken lightly.
