The Utah Highway Patrol is urging the states motorists and their passengers to make sure they are wearing there safety belts when riding in a car. “Buckle up” is a phrase that everyone has heard since we were a young kid but it seems like people are taking it for granted as they ride along the roads in the state of Utah, seven people have died in nine different crashes within the last two week that could have been prevented if a seat belt would have been worn. Five of the crashes are being investigated as incidents of “driving under the influence” state troopers have reported that six of the seven deaths were from people not wearing their seat belts at the time of the car accidents. “Of those six fatalities, seat belt usage would have potentially prevented the motorist deaths.” The UHP will now start a statewide crack down on impaired drivers as well as focusing on seat belt usage as well.
The Utah Personal Injury Lawyers would like to urge everyone on the road to take extra precaution. We all need to share the roads with one another, slow down, make sure everyone is wearing a seat belt and please don’t drink and drive. Something so simple like taking a second to put a seat belt on can save your life. If you or anyone you know thinks they have a personal injury case please contact us so we can give you a free consultation.
