Six teenagers were killed and two other people were injured when the SUV they were in struck a guardrail, turned over and went into a pond, officials said. The single-vehicle accident took place in northeastern Ohio, on Sunday morning, according to Lt. Anne Ralston of the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The teens, age 14 to 19, were traveling in a Honda Passport. The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified those killed as Alexis Cayson, 19; Andrique Bennett, 14; Kirklan M. Behner, 15; Daylan Ray, 15; Brandon A. Murray, 17; and Ramone M. White, 15. All were from Warren. Five of the victims were found inside the vehicle. The sixth victim was ejected during the crash and found under the SUV when it was removed from the water. The two survivors manged to escape from the vehicle and called 911 from a nearby residence, the highway patrol said.
Authorities found that the vehicle appeared to be overloaded, and that no one was wearing a seat belt.
1LAW would like to extend our thoughts to the victims and their families. We also would like to urge everyone to wear safety belts and to be aware of how fast they are driving.
